Police officer hit by vehicle 'at speed' in north London

The driver was stopped by police before they sped off, hitting an officer in White Hart Lane.

A police officer has been taken to hospital after being hit by a vehicle "at speed" in Tottenham, north London.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said officers stopped a vehicle in White Hart Lane at 11.32am.

But after it was stopped, the driver "drove off at speed striking an officer".

The officer has been taken to hospital and the force is waiting for an update on his condition, he added.

There have been no arrests and inquiries are ongoing.

Part of the road has been closed off and the W3 bus has been diverted in both directions.
