Turkey, Finland and Sweden have signed a trilateral agreement that lifts Turkey’s objections to Finland and Sweden joining Nato and brings the two Nordic countries a step closer to membership.
"We now have an agreement that paves the way for #Finland & #Sweden to join #NATO. I thank Presidents
@RTErdogan & @Niinisto & @SwedishPM for the constructive spirit that made this historic decision possible.", Jens Stoltenberg claims in a tweet. Ankara had previously blocked the Nordic countries from joining the alliance over concerns about arms exports and terrorism.
