The War: Half of the Kyiv Population has fled

Speaking on Ukrainian television, Kyiv’s mayor, former boxer Vitali Klitschko, said half of the capital’s total population had left the city as Russian forces advance on the city.

“From our information, one in two Kyiv residents has left the city.

A little less than 2 million people have currently left. However, Kyiv has been transformed into a fortress. Every street, every building, every checkpoint has been fortified.”, Klitschko says.

In the meantime it has become clear that Russia plans to change conscription rules so that a summons can be sent by mail.

If a conscript does not receive a letter and does not go to the recruiting office themselves, it will be considered a criminal offence.

“It is proposed to make amendments so that a summons can be sent to a conscript by registered mail.

If he does not receive the letter and does not come to the recruiting office on his own, it will be considered a criminal offence.”, the statement says.
