pparently, this is what it looks like when Parliament is “in control” of a situation. This week, with 11 weeks to go until Brexit, the Commons spent an hour debating the meaning of the word “forthwith”. Next week, it will vote down the Government’s Brexit deal.
For several weeks after that, we can expect to watch our MPs furiously negotiate Brexit with themselves while they put off making the real decision: accept Theresa May’s deal or collapse the Government.
Unless Parliament will accept a no deal, these are the only real options because there is simply no realistic prospect of negotiating an alternative to Mrs May’s deal before the clock runs out.
